The Raid | From Deep Cover: The Family Man 18 May 2026

Deep Cover is a true crime show about double lives, from our friends at Pushkin Industries. Their new season, The Family Man, is a story about how families can deceive each other and the lengths we’ll go to to protect our loved ones. Elise and Marissa grew up in a seemingly normal house in the suburbs of St. Louis, but it was a house built on secrets. There were things their father never told them—like how he really made his money. One night, the police showed up, raided their house, and seized boxes of evidence. Hours later, the sisters turned on the TV and saw something surreal: their father in the middle of a police chase. The local news identified him as “The Boonie Hat Bandit”. The girls were stunned. They struggled to accept the truth: Dad had been living a double life. How long had he been lying to them? What had he done? And who, exactly, was their father? Dateline Missing in America – Ep. 25: Marked with an X 05 Sep 2025

It was the early morning hours of May 20, 2017, and 15-year-old Sophie Reeder should have been in bed. Instead, she had slipped out of her house in the River Oaks neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale and walked off into the hot, humid night. Two security cameras recorded some of Sophie’s movements over the next several hours. One recorded her walking past a neighbor’s house as she started her journey; another recorded her walking along a busy road near her home at 2 a.m. In that video, a police cruiser passes the 5-foot-1, 100-pound teenager and doesn’t slow down or stop. Sophie is seen wearing a short black dress, high-top sneakers, a leopard-print fake fur coat, and headphones. They are the last known images of her. Seven weeks after Sophie’s disappearance, police executed a search warrant at an apartment in the area where her phone last pinged. Three convicted felons were staying at that address. Josh Mankiewicz talks with Sophie’s father, Patrick Reeder, her aunt Kirsten Milhorn, reporter Brittany Wallman of the Miami Herald, and Sergeant Don Geiger of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
